Steve went to Hill Junior College 1970-71 on a baseball scholarship where he was elected President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was selected All Tournament in the Texas Regional Tournament.

He acquired his first quadplex in 1979 for $42,000 with another seminary student. This is when he started to learn how to be the general contractor and remodel.

Watching his son Andrew Baxter play on the Pearce High School basketball team for example, was a wonderful time in Steve’s life.
Andrew Baxter’s Dad, Steve, was normally filming the game because Andrew’s older brother Brennan was the senior point guard. Steve observed how excited the bench was and how much fun they were having, so he started videoing the bench more than the basketball game. He put together a great video that can be seen on his website. Andrew’s number was 23.

Brennan Baxter, Andrew Baxter’s brother, was a successful basketball player. Steve enjoyed Brennan’s success just as well and has had many enjoyable times enjoying both of his sons’ successes both on and off the Pearce High School basketball court.
Andrew Baxter always enjoyed Young Life in high school. The group met weekly, went on summer and winter camps, and encouraged its members in their Christian walk. However BUCS was similar to Young Life at the next level, fellowship for university students eager to integrate their college experience with their Christian walk.

Andrew is thankful for the accomplishments of high school, appreciative of his popularity socially and accomplishments athletically. But he would be the first to say that those successes are nothing when compared to the privilege of knowing Christ and living for Him.
